Housing is many things, but first and foremost it is a basic human right. Its long-term success is rooted in supportive policies and supporting programmes, and is ultimately shaped in its brick-and-mortar morphology.
Not all aspects of housing are measurable. Over-reliance on the economic dimension belies the significance of the other principles of sustainability. Empirically-informed theoretical frameworks often provide the means for bridging good-practice concepts to actions.

At HfX, we address this complexity by carrying out our work in three respective research clusters and relying on the knowledge and expertise of people who come from a range of fields around housing.
